Indications

elevet+ Oxytetracycline LA 300 is a broad-spectrum antibiotic for use in the treatment of conditions caused by, or associated with, organisms sensitive to oxytetracycline in cattle, sheep and pigs. A wide range of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including Bordetella bronchiseptica, Actinomyces pyogenes, Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae, Pasteurella spp., Staphylococcus spp. and Streptococcus spp. are sensitive to oxytetracycline. Certain Mycoplasma, Rickettsiae, Protozoa and Chlamydia are also sensitive to oxytetracycline.

elevet+ Oxytetracycline LA 300 may be used in the treatment and control of wide range of common systemic, respiratory, urinary and local infections caused by oxytetracycline organisms. Specific indications for this product would therefore include: Pasteurellosis, pneumonia, atrophic rhinitis, erysipelas, joint-ill/navel ill, summer mastitis in cows, ovine keratoconjuctivitis (pink-eye), foot rot and enzootic abortion in sheep. Resistance may develop to any chemical.

Dosage and Administration

This product does not contain any antimicrobial preservative. Swab the septum before removing each dose. Use a sterile needle and syringe. If stored as directed, this product can be expected to retain its potency until the date of expiry shown on the vial. When the vial has been broached and the contents exposed to air, the solution may darken but the potency will be unchanged.

DO NOT DILUTE.

Injections are to be given by deep intramuscular injection into the neck region for the treatment and control of conditions caused by organisms sensitive to the action of oxytetracycline.

Volume at any one site should not exceed 10 mL. Treated animals should be clearly identified in such a way that they will maintain their identity during the withholding period.

Cattle, sheep and pigs:
Standard dose: 20 mg/kg (1 mL/15 kg)
High dose: 30 mg/kg (1 mL/10 kg)
Piglets less than 10 kg should be given from 0.2 mL at 1 day old, to 0.5 mL at 21 days old.
Over 21 days old give 1 mL per 10 kg.

Use contents within 28 days of first broaching of the vial. Discard the unused portion.
