Elevet+ Maxalac L.C. Intramammary Antibiotic is indicated for the treatment of clinical mastitis caused by the following pathogens:
Staphylococcus spp., Staphylococcus aureus, including penicillin resistant spp., Streptococcus agalacatiae, Streptococcus dysgalactiae, Streptococcus uberis, Escherichia coli, Corynebacterium spp. (including Arcanobacterium pyogenes).
The antibiotic, cefuroxime, is also active against other organisms recovered from the bovine udder including Klebsiella spp., Citrobacter spp., Enterobacter spp. and Micrococcus spp.
Elevet + MAXALAC® L.C. is therefore suitable for the treatment of clinical mastitis caused by all the major mastitis pathogens.
Wear gloves when infusing the treatment. Before infusion the teat should be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. The contents of one syringe should be infused into the teat canal of each infected quarter every 12 hours, after each of three successive milkings.
