Dosage and Administration

Once broached use within 3 months. Discard the unused portion.

Horses
Analgesia: 0.22 mg/kg (10 mL/450 kg) bodyweight (bw) by intramuscular (I.M). or subcutaneous (S.C.) injection.
Restraint: 0.11 mg/kg (5 mL/450 kg) bw combined with 0.055 mg/kg acetylpromazine (2.5 mL of 10 mg/mL per 450 kg bw) by intravenous (I.V.) injection.

Dogs
Analgesia: 0.11 – 0.55 mg/kg (0.11 – 0.55 mL/10 kg) bw by I.M. or S.C. injection.
Premedication: 1.1 mg/kg (1.1 mL/10 kg) bw by S.C. injection.

Cats
Analgesia: 0.2 – 0.6 mg/kg (0.2 – 0.6 mL/10 kg) bw by S.C. injection.
Premedication: 0.2 – 0.6 mg/kg (0.2 – 0.6 mL/10 kg) bw by S.C. injection.
Repeat Analgesia: 0.2 – 0.6 mg/kg (0.2 – 0.6 mL/10 kg) bw by S.C. injection at 3 time points with 5 hour intervals.

Indications

For analgesia and restraint in horses, and analgesia and anesthetic premedication in dogs and cats

Contraindications

This product is contraindicated for use during parturition.
This product is contraindicated for use in animals with respiratory depression.
This product is contraindicated for use in pregnant, breeding or lactating cats, as safe use of the product in these animals has not been evaluated.
Safe use of this formulation in cats less than one year of age has not been established. Published information supports the safe and effective use of methadone in cats older than 6 months of age.
